About Wood Stain Colors

A stain chip on a store shelf shows one thin coat on a factory sample board, usually a wood species nobody buying the can is actually working with. Wood Stain Colors exists to close that gap: every color from Minwax, Varathane, General Finishes, Sherwin-Williams and Behr gets its real undertone described in plain language, wood-species behavior notes for pine, oak, maple and cabinets, and the closest match in another brand, ranked by measured color distance rather than a guess.

It's built for anyone about to open a can: a DIYer refinishing a table, someone trying to match new cabinet doors to an existing kitchen, or a deck project choosing between a solid and a semi-transparent exterior stain. The site is free to use, runs entirely as static pages with no account or login, and doesn't collect anything beyond standard, anonymized traffic analytics.
